Social work education has become an independent profession. Because of its field-work training methodology it has become the backbone of social work education. In the two year professional course of social work syllabus a lot of field-work, i.e., concurrent field-work has been included for learning the practical aspects of social work techniques in social welfare agencies and also in the differential communities.
The colleges and universities provide theoretical background of social work profession. Still, students often confused about field-work. There is a reasonable demand to be taught something about how social workers engage in practice. They serve as agents of change about the nature of social work intervention and its purpose, the way it is carried out, and the process through which the supervisors of social work trainees or clients move through. Lack of trained social manpower in most of the agencies affect the nature of training in social work education. Professional responsibility of agency supervision is to guide the student to understand the function of the agencies.
